No, you won't be locked out. Ozone digital safes use 4 × 1.5V AA alkaline batteries and have two backup options if the battery dies: an external 9V battery terminal on the door exterior (press a 9V battery against the terminals to get enough charge to open it) and a mechanical override key for emergencies. The safe also shows a low-battery warning on the display well before power runs out. Replace batteries every 6–12 months as a routine - not 1–2 years as previously stated.
